Welcome!
As a therapist here at Myers-Galloway Counseling I enjoy supporting clients who are insecure about their parenting style and their overall connection with their children. The women I see often struggle to have the confidence to use their own voice as a result of growing up too soon.
You have tried to please the critics in your life to no avail. Parents, your boss at work, exes, family members, friends, and even yourself. Even when you’ve done what's asked of you, there’s always “something you could have done better”. You have an immense amount of self-doubt, no matter what you tell yourself. Because of this, you question your intelligence, self-worth, and value. You don’t believe in yourself. You look in the mirror and barely like the person that you see. You question if you have a purpose and if you’re fulfilling it. You spend hours thinking about what other people think of you and wondering if they can see the “ugly” parts of you.
I help people who struggle to trust themselves learn to communicate their needs. I teach you how to connect with others while establishing self confidence. Together we explore your family history, traumas, and any significant changes that led you to therapy. There will be homework to encourage further exploration outside of sessions. Therapy can help you reframe your entire life’s experiences. You'll be able to choose appropriate responses to triggers. You'll have a better understanding of how personal obstacles keep you from achieving.
Clients come to me weekly for support on parentification issues, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, and marriage complications. I incorporate journaling, meditation, role playing exercises and reading into the therapeutic process. Therapy doesn’t have to feel like a typical doctor’s appointment. It can be the sunshine you’ve been waiting for after years of darkness. By finding the right therapist, you can breathe life back into your daily routine.
